I understand that this book is supposed to be a prequel to TCWE...I have never read this book. This is the first from Sistah Souljah that have ever read. This book alone is a beautiful depiction of what Gangstar Love and Thug Passion should be. A beautiful depiction of all that is woman and how our love and Presence can cause a man of character and values to be willing to go to Sheol in order to protect our honor and state of being. I would advise everyone to look at this book separately for what it is. The ending was supposed to make you want more. More Midnight (my dream), more Akemi, and possibly for you to imagine based on what you know of Midnight what lengths he would go to in order to reunite with the love of his life. Every day there is at least one action that he does which stands out and makes me appreciate his presence in my life. Most recently our schedules have us living like two ships passing in the night, and we rarely (never) have the same day off. We manage to have quality time in ways that matter to one another. Most recently, when taking my morning shower before work, he joined me and scrubbed my back. When I came home, he had prepared dinner after his own long day of work. Even though I did not get off until midnight, he was still up and at the door waiting for me with a warm hug and smile. This may not compare to an incredible night out or exotic vacation, it displays his love and commitment which I feel is incredibly romantic. I am thankful for the man in my life. He packed an overnight bag for me for the two nights we were there. He also made sure I had an appointment with the hotel spa for a massage, facial, manicure & pedicure. It was one of the best weekends ever. We didn't have to travel far but it was a mini-escape because since everyone thought we were gone no one disturbed us on our phones, emails, texts, etc. It was very nice.
