Bill O’Reilly, a frequent face on Olberman’s Worst Person in the World Countdown, has once again made everyone wonder why he has a job. While responding to a caller on his radio show, O’Reilly said the following regarding Michelle Obama’s recent statements about being a proud American:
“I don’t want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there’s evidence, hard facts, that say this is how the woman really feels.”
It’s that until that really gets you, right? Bill O’Reilly has to go. No way in 2008 should you be able condone the use of a lynching party on anyone, much less a black woman who is married to the man who could be this country’s next president. I thought it was pretty ridiculous that heads rolled at MSNBC for talking about “pimping out Chelsea Clinton,” but O’Reilly really deserves to get his walking papers for this outrageous comment. It’s insulting, irresponsible, hateful and disgusting. How many times does he have to say something ludicrous before he finally gets put out to pasture?
I’m sure O’Reilly will respond to criticism by pointing out that he was trying to stick up for Michelle Obama against his caller’s statements, but it still doesn’t fly. Not a warning, not a suspension, not a public apology; being fired is the only thing that should happen to O’Reilly.
