New York Magazine is awesome for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is the stable of writers who can make the most random, seemingly uninteresting things well, interesting. Gentrification and urban development are engaging subjects to me, but not so much to other people, usually. Sternbergh does a good job in this article of turning a ho-hum subject into an expletive-filled, Dr. Seuss-like, detective adventure. If you don’t learn anything useful about Brooklyn, you will at least learn some very cool new curse words.
Oh and happy 125th birthday to the Brooklyn Bridge!
