Good Morning, Sunshine

Come and crack open the sky
And let your golden light through

~Amel Larrieux, Morning~

Score one for Benson and Stabler! I’m sure Fin and Munch helped out too. Oh wait, this is real life not “Law & Order.” Well, the real cops busted over 300 people who were involved in a huge and disgusting juvenile prostitution ring. ~CNN~

You might remember Lorena Bobbitt. Fifteen years ago she cut off her husband’s penis while he was sleeping. CBS caught up with her recently and surprisingly, she is engaged and has a little girl. That is a very very very brave man. ~CBS~

Some people think Friday’s election in Zimbabwe will be a sham. Robert Mugabe is such a sweetheart. I’m not sure why anyone would think anything he’s involved with is less than peaceful and fair. ~BET~

Check out this little article on hip hop’s influence on fashion over the years. I did rock an Africa medallion back in the day. “De La Soul. From the soul. Black medallions, no gold.” What you know about that?

Great article on Hip Hop Styles.

However, I have to point out the Schooly D started the Africa medallions on his album “Am I black Enough” and the Beastie Boys brought in skate wear on Check Your Head.

Great trip down memory lane though.

Also, Young MC was preppy way before Kayne West was.

You make some very valid points. Yeah, it was a cute piece. Next time, they need to give a little shine to the ladies though. I don’t know why this was all about dudes.

That is true. What about the Queen? Ladies First had all of that!

Living Single was the first progressive Hip Hop show out there as well, showing it as a lifestyle instead of just a stereotype.

Have you ever heard the Flava Unit MCs?

Good morning to you as well. Great quote–I *love* Amel Larrieux! One of my most favorites.

Stal- That was my show! Too bad there’s nothing like that on tv today. Yeah, I remember Flava Unit. The first person that comes to mind is Apache and his “Gangsta Bitch.” lol
Secret Sociologist- Love her to pieces! So under the radar. I need her to drop a new album.
