Our 44th President, Barack Obama

05 Nov

I have so many thoughts and emotions swirling around right now. Did you watch all of that last night? Obama didn’t just win, he WON!!! There wasn’t a hanging chad, provisional ballot or Supreme Court order in sight. Where were you when you knew Obama was going to win? What did you do?

Oh and how excited are you to have Michelle Obama as the First Lady??!!

Good morning! What a night, huh? I tell ya – I was teary the whole evening! THEN when “Obie” took our state (Ohio) like it stole something, me & the Sig.Other cheered our butts off cause we knew how important it was! THEN @ midnight when our New Mr. President of the United States came out onto the stage, I almost passed out! (LOL!) I was SO, SO, excited, happy, nostalgic -just everything. This is fantastic – I’m so looking forward to seeing & reading more about everyone’s feelings today.

And as far as Ms. Michelle – I can’t wait to see her be a whole new kinda first lady! A Queen to her King for real! WOO. HOO! πŸ™‚

BTW: here @ my office @ the lawfirm, everyone is eerily quiet. I don’t do politics here @ work, but it was always obvious they wanted “that other one” to win. So, I’m containing my joy privately. You know what I mean….. Sorry for ranting! Have a great day! OBAMA BABY!!!!

I was hanging out our window cheering with the rest of the neighborhood at the start of something very special.

“The new First Family of the United States!”

What a moment for every decent person in this country.

Today it really is all about the love.

I was sitting on the couch next to my boyfriend watching the Election coverage and they had just annouced that we would know the results for the west coast and Virginia in about 15 minutes and they said they were going to commercials and then they cut to a screen where Obama was pictured with Elected 44th President of United States and I read it, read it again, read it again. And then they cut to the annoucer saying it. I put my face in my hands and the tears came I leaned over with my face and hands in my lap and just allowed myself to take it all in. As I leaned up my phone started going crazy I talked and texted and celebrated! History! YES WE DID!

I smiled and played James Brown all night long. he will do a good job and we must help him do the work that needs to be done. No more “checking out” and more vigilance on the part of the American people. It’s a good time to be alive and a good day to be an American. Who knew? πŸ˜‰

I was asleep when President elect Barak Obama was announced. All day I was so excited and antsy (and absolutely trying not to be so emotionally connected). The audacity of hope is all consuming. I just decided to ‘check out’ and go to sleep. You know, the ‘wake me when it’s over’ approach.
My son woke me up about 12:00AM with the news. I have been wide awake since. I am so happy my mother got to see this day. I wish my father had been alive to witness it. I don’t think I’m going to sleep until tomorrow. This feels wonderful….

A poster hanging in a friend’s home says it all:

    Rosa sat, so……
    Martin could walk, so…..
    Barack could run, so….
    Our children can fly.
