About Demetria

Hey, Sugar Plum! My name is Demetria Irwin and I am an urban planner turned writer/editor/budding author.Β  I am also a Detroit native, NYC resident and an Ancestry.com addict. This blog is basically an outlet for me to release all these random thoughts in my head. I’m hoping you will be able to identify with some of my thoughts and observations and I would love to read your comments.

Glad you stopped by. Come back sometime!

Thank you very much! I think you might have me confused with Demetria Lucas who’s over at Essence, but I’ll take the compliment anyway. πŸ™‚

    Hey Demetria,

My name is Demetria as well. I was born and raised in Detroit and currently still live here. I am also a budding author, with one poetry published thus far and working on a novel. You are truly doing wonderful things and to know that you are a freelance writer and author, further encourages me to keep going.

Want to tell you about a film that I think you will be interested in Girls Rising/ you can find it on You Tube..a trailer..it promotes education for girls and seeks to educate people about how countries fail to appreciate the contributions and values of girls across the world..anyways take a look..you can also become involved and have it shown in Detroit if a screening is not scheduled. Was interested in the writing program in which you are a mentor..and have made contact with them. thanks learned about you on twitter
